WOW! Where do I begin? If I could rate higher I would. I bought this installment as well as the rest of the series because I fell in love with characters: Darian, OMG What a hunk of a Vamp.. YUMMY!
In HOSTILE TERRITORY (Knights of Darkness Chronicles #4) by D. N. Simmons we are taking to a dark, suspenseful, and sexual world where one must watch their back at all times to survive. As the scenes unfolded I was absorbed into the story, visualizing them as they played out like a movie. D.N Simmons has an FREAKEN AWESOME writing style that kept me flipping pages until I was cross-eyed. Love when that happens!
The world is dark, mysterious, oh so steamy, and action-packed from beginning to end. Full of Supernatural beings that have become family no matter what their breed. The playful bantering between the characters had me smiling while the fight scenes had me in tears as they were perfectly depicted allowing me to understand exactly what they were experiencing.AWESOMENESS!
The characters are well developed, believable, and lovable. As I said before, Darian is OMG YUMMY!! Sweet and Loving, yet, Firm and Ruthless when called for. I could go on and on cause I fell in LOVE with all of them. Thank you D.N. Simmons for bringing the Knights of Darkness to us readers to enjoy.

Ok, she did it again! If you liked the other books you won't be disappointed in this one. There was action right from the start! A group of rebels are targeting the vampires and shifter again. But it isn't what it seems. And on top of that they have taken sweet Sebastian, Natasha, and Matthew. Sergio and his pride, will do anything it takes to get his son back. Xavier is seeing red, Darian is collected on the outside but a storm rages within. And Warren will risk his job and life for Matt. But it seems they just are always one step behind.....
I must say there was a ton of action in this book. The final fight scene was epic! Have you ever noticed in so many other books that the build up to the climax is super intense and then the climax is only a few pages long? I hate that. You get plenty of action here! Simmons does a great job in the suspense and climax in Hostile Territory. Lots of action and depth. I would say more but I don't want to ruin it. Just buy the book.
Side note I wish there was a little more Natasha, Xavier and Darian alone time. They are my favorite after all.... The Lions Den here I come!
I will NOT get into plot or every character detail on this review. I loved books #1 and #2, and a little on the "MEH" on book #3 (which I reviewed that I would buy again, but not my favorite in the series), this book delivered a lot more in the sense of action, character development, and story line than the last book did for me.
Action packed and a great ride.
If you've read the first few, this one will not disappoint, and made me want to say "lets get the next one" when I read the last page on my kindle. Which I purchased right away actually ;-)
Yes, Darian seems to be getting a little more "loving" and agreeable, but I finally feel that his character is just developing in a way that the author intended. He's discovered love and friendship and all the positives, perks and life enriching moments that comes with all that. So I think that those who complain about Darian loosing his edge as being a bad ass (and I was one of them when I reviewed book #3, The Royal Flush) should finally realize that he has taken his blinders off and is now seeing the world through others eyes and making his own life and self worth more enriching to himself, as well as benefiting his coven, family and friends in this direction than just being a hard ass. I would hope that his maker, who is much older than him, can also find this a pleasurable part of eternal existence as Darian is finding. Strong alliances is what is needed to survive when all hell breaks loose, and this is most beneficial to all involved, in this book and the following books, as the conflicts will most definitely become more deadly.
D.N. Simmons, I think I get it now where you are going with Darian. ;-)
I'd buy it again, knowing what I know now, and I wouldn't regret it. Hope this helps ;-)
